What you\’ll be doing

An experienced and strategic communicator with:

  • Exceptional communication skills and proven success in developing and executing impactful internal and external communications strategies and plans. Ability to distill business initiatives into simple, persuasive, and engaging content for a broad audience.
  • Outstanding ownership mentality, solution-focused, and proactive at taking initiative.
  • Strategic agility to balance long-term planning with a hands-on delivery approach in a fast-paced environment.
  • Expert stakeholder management skills, confident in building relationships and gaining buy-in from senior leaders as a trusted advisor on sensitive issues.
  • Digital expertise in using platforms and tools to enhance reach and monitor impact.
  • External understanding and experience in external communications or PR, ideally in the arts sector, with experience in media relations and responding to press office queries.

The role and location

The role will be based at our London, Edinburgh or Sheffield office, with a blend of in-office (3 days) and homeworking (2 days) per week.

Strategic Communications: advising on and executing a robust internal communications strategy aligned with Hachette UK’s mission and pillars. Strategic Advisory: acting as a trusted advisor to the business on communication issues influencing company reputation and employee experience. Integrated Communications: collaborating with HR, Divisional Communications Directors, and Hachette UK Board members for a unified voice. Employee experience: making it easy for staff to get information and news, including internal events. Content & Engagement: driving communications with analytics and storytelling. External Representation: supporting the Group Communications Director with external channels (website, LinkedIn, Instagram). Adaptive Expertise: lending expertise to remain agile in a changing landscape.
