Are you ready to shape the voice of our growing organisation? As STEF Langdons continues to grow and evolve, we are looking for an experienced and dynamic Head of Communications to help shape the next chapter of our journey.

Location: Bridgwater - Head Office

Salary: £74,500.00 per annum

Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours

This is a strategic leadership role responsible for leading and shaping both internal and external communications across STEF Langdons, strengthening our brand, supporting our growth, enhancing employee engagement, and ensuring consistent, high-impact messaging across all channels. You will work closely with our senior leadership team and colleagues across the wider STEF Group. You will play a key role in promoting our culture, managing corporate communications, supporting employer branding, and driving engagement with employees, customers, media, and prospective talent. Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Communications
    • Develop and deliver communication strategies aligned with Group and UK business objectives
    • Translate leadership vision into engaging and actionable communications
    • Support the integration of acquired businesses and cultural alignment initiatives
    • Coordinate crisis communications in collaboration with the Group crisis management team
  • Internal Communications
    • Support leadership teams in developing key messaging
    • Manage internal communication channels including newsletters, digital platforms, mailings, and campaigns
    • Create engaging content including news stories, videos, and internal updates
    • Maintain editorial calendars and communication plans
    • Organise internal events including seminars and family days
    • Promote Group initiatives including Equality & Diversity, Climate Change, and Health & Safety campaigns
  • External Communications & Employer Branding
    • Manage media relations and press communications with support from Group Communications
    • Coordinate spokesperson briefings and media interviews
    • Lead social media strategy, content creation, and online engagement
    • Oversee website updates and digital content
    • Plan and deliver events including site openings and trade exhibitions
    • Develop and strengthen the company’s employer brand within the UK market
  • Brand Management
    • Ensure consistent application of brand guidelines across all communications and platforms

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for a confident and creative communications leader with exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to influence at all levels of the organisation.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Degree-qualified in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in a similar communications role within a corporate environment and/or agency
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to simplify complex messages into clear, engaging communications
  • Experience managing social media, digital platforms, PR, and media relations
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
  • High level of diplomacy, emotional intelligence, and resilience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, CMS platforms, SharePoint, social media tools, and Canva

Desirable

  • Experience supporting business transformation or integration projects
  • French language skills
