Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, prepare, and maintain lifting equipment, including cranes, slings, pulleys, and winches.
- Set up, align, and level machinery or structural elements and direct their safe movement.
- Collaborate with teams to lift, transport, and position heavy loads while ensuring worker safety.
- Follow operational and safety procedures such as LOLER compliance, wearing protective equipment, and supervising rigging activities.
- Maintain accurate records, report faults, and perform routine maintenance on rigging gear.
Qualifications and Skills
- Completion of a recognised apprenticeship or vocational training in rigging or mechanical/engineering disciplines.
- Certifications such as OPITO Stage 1–4 for offshore or industrial rigging or equivalent industry-approved qualifications.
- Physical fitness, strong hand-eye coordination, and the ability to work at height or in outdoor environments.
- Technical knowledge of lifting equipment, load dynamics, and mechanical principles.
- Good communication, team coordination, and problem-solving abilities.
- You must have NVQ level 3 for this job role.
