Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting Qualified Electricians: Prepare work areas (e.g., lifting floorboards, chasing walls for cables). Fetch tools, materials, and equipment as directed. Hold and stabilize components during installations.
  • Basic Electrical Work: Assist with running cables, wiring sockets, and fitting conduit/trunking. Drill holes, fix mounting brackets, and install containment systems. Strip and terminate cables under supervision.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and Electricity at Work Regulations 1989. Use PPE (hard hat, gloves, safety glasses) and adhere to risk assessments.
  • Testing and Inspections: Assist with basic testing (e.g., continuity, polarity) under supervision. Support during PAT (Portable Appliance Testing).

Skills and Qualifications

  • Mandatory Requirements: CSCS Card (Green/Labourer or Blue/Skilled Worker) for site access. ECS Labourer Card (Electrical Certification Scheme) for electrical-specific roles. Basic understanding of electrical systems and tools.
