Job Summary

Join our dynamic healthcare team as an Out of Hours Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP), where you will play a vital role in delivering high‑quality urgent care outside regular hours. This energetic and rewarding position offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive assessments, diagnoses, and management for a diverse range of patient conditions during evenings, nights, weekends, and bank holidays. As an Out of Hours ANP, you will be at the forefront of ensuring seamless patient care when it’s needed most, working autonomously while collaborating closely with other healthcare professionals to make a positive impact on patient outcomes.

Duties

  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients presenting with urgent health concerns during out‑of‑hours periods.
  • Diagnose and manage a wide variety of acute and chronic conditions, providing appropriate treatment plans.
  • Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with clinical guidelines and legal frameworks.
  • Refer patients to specialist services or arrange hospital admissions when necessary, ensuring smooth transitions of care.
  • Document all clinical encounters accurately within electronic health records, maintaining high standards of record keeping.
  • Provide health education and advice to patients and their families to promote self‑care and well‑being.
  • Collaborate with on‑call GPs, emergency services, and other healthcare providers to coordinate patient care effectively.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven experience as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner or similar role within urgent or emergency care settings.
  • Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as an ANP or equivalent professional body.
  • Strong clinical assessment skills with the ability to make autonomous decisions confidently.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of current clinical guidelines, protocols, and legal requirements for prescribing medicines.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and bank holidays as required.

Job Type: Part‑time, Temporary

Contract Length: 12 months

Shift and Schedule: Weekend availability; other shifts as required.
