About the Role
You will predominantly work with older adults, supporting them with a range of conditions such as falls, frailty, and deconditioning. There are also opportunities to work within your expertise in areas such as stroke rehabilitation, Parkinson’s, orthopaedic rehab, surgical rehab, respiratory, cardiac rehab, and more. We aim to keep your caseload as local as possible, and travel reimbursements apply for journeys beyond 6 miles.
What We’re Looking For
- A strong background in elderly and/or neurological rehabilitation
- Substantial NHS experience as a qualified physiotherapist in the UK
- A passion for delivering excellent care in a home setting
- BSc or MSc in Physiotherapy
- Minimum of 8 years’ post-graduate experience
- HCPC and CSP registration
- UK Driving Licence
- A warm, professional approach with a commitment to patient-centred care

- Is this a self-employed role? Yes, all of our therapist roles are self-employed. You’ll be responsible for your own tax, National Insurance, and professional indemnity insurance. In return, you get genuine flexibility over your hours, caseload, and working pattern.
- What areas will I cover? We aim to keep your caseload as local to you as possible. Each role has a primary location and surrounding service area, but there’s flexibility — we work with you to build a patch that suits where you live.
- Is HCPC registration required? Yes, HCPC registration is an essential requirement for all our therapist roles. Physiotherapists must also be members of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP), and occupational therapists must hold RCOT or BAOT membership. The role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check, which Medella will provide.
- How flexible are the hours? Very flexible. You choose your own hours and caseload, from as few as 4 hours per week up to 30 hours. We typically start low and gradually build up your caseload.
- Do I need my own car? Yes, a valid UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are essential. You’ll also need appropriate car insurance that covers business use.
