Our parents, Janet & David, have mid-stage dementia and want to stay at home & active as long as they can. We're looking for a part-time, live-in carer to join our team of 3 carers & 2 daughters. You would work 2 four-hour daytime shifts on Mondays & Thursdays & sleep over 2 nights a week (your choice of Thursdays, Fridays or Saturdays). Our parents are looking for a warm, patient & compassionate person, for whom caring is a vocation rather than just a job. While Mum is very chilled, Dad can get anxious, so you should be sensitive to non-verbal cues & confident in de-escalating stressful situations. Another important component will be your ability to come up with new ways to keep our parents active & mentally stimulated, rather than defaulting to tv or naps. Mum & Dad really appreciated delicious & healthy home-cooked meals with plenty of vegetables. As carers ourselves, we know the best quality care starts from taking great care of ourselves. So if you are an active person, enthusiastic about exercise and self-care, we look forward to welcoming you to the family!
