Key Duties

  • Provide emotional support, companionship promoting wellbeing and independence.
  • Physical assistance with mobility (some manual handling), including use of wheelchairs.
  • Support activities inside and outside the home (e.g. gardening, walking, dog training, shopping, tidying, attending medical appointments).
  • Support daily care requirements: medication, personal hygiene, dressing, choice of clothes and personal appearance.
  • Support mental wellbeing, calm challenging behaviour in moments of stress.
  • Other duties as required: provide a warm, calm and positive approach, enjoy simple activities (conversation, TV, gardening, crafts, art), work independently and as part of a team, provide physical assistance and companionship, support the client in moments of extreme distress, remain a quiet and patient companion when needed, and bring humour and quick wit on active days.
  • Provide assistance with a large assistance dog in training, confident with dogs, and help with dog training.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2/3 or diploma in health and social care level 2.
  • Experienced working in a home environment.
  • Knowledge of FND, ADHD, NEAD, fibromyalgia is desirable; training will be provided if needed.
  • Understanding of working with clients with mental health diagnoses and autism.
  • Confident in managing emergency situations.
  • Eligible to work in the UK.
  • Subject to satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS check.
