We are looking to expand our team of carers for Katie, a 70‑year‑old woman, former doctor, semi‑paralysed following a brain haemorrhage in 1991. Katie is a wheelchair user; we’ve adapted to ground‑floor living in the past 18 months. Katie retains all her mental abilities but has poor short‑term memory. The house is a welcoming and friendly environment and we are looking for laid‑back but vigilant carers to provide assistance and companionship to Katie.

We currently have a care team who cover 7 days a week working 9‑2 pm.

Desired Shifts: Two 5‑hour shifts across a week. Possibility of additional shifts, including evening and overnight stays.

Duties:

  • Help Katie up, shower, dressing, transfers to wheelchair (requires strength).
  • Prepare lunch, wash clothes, ironing.
  • General household management and companionship.

Qualifications:

  • Essential: Trustworthy, responsible, reliable adult with a good sense of humour.
  • Essential: Physically fit and able to assist with transfers.
  • Desirable: Car driver.
  • Desirable: Able to cook simple meals.
  • Desirable: Interest in gardening.
  • Desirable: Ideally previous care experience.
