About the Role
We’re seeking a technically skilled renewable energy professional to support project development through site assessment, preliminary design, energy yield modelling, and technical-economic optimisation. The role involves cross-functional collaboration and support across project lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Site Evaluation and Feasibility: Assess site viability using resource data (wind, solar) and site constraint data (GIS); provide preliminary energy yield forecasts.
- Preliminary Design: Create and optimize conceptual layouts using tools like AutoCAD, PVsyst, PVcase, and Helioscope.
- Resource and Yield Assessment: Process data from meteorological towers or remote sensors; conduct long-term resource modelling using software such as WindPro, Windographer, and PVsyst. Ensure uptime and accuracy of measurement equipment.
- Site Optimisation and Collaboration: Work with engineering and environmental teams to refine layouts and address site constraints. Incorporate feedback and global best practices into designs.
- Technical Support: Coordinate with third-party consultants to provide independent resource assessment and challenge results (where appropriate). Support the development, property and grid teams with technical insights during project delivery.
- Documentation and Reporting: Prepare reports and maintain organized records of designs, calculations, and assumptions.
Qualifications:
- Science, Maths or Engineering degree
- 5+ years in renewable energy (solar, wind, BESS)
- Proficiency with design/resource tools (e.g., PVsyst, Helioscope, AutoCAD, WindFarmer)
- Experience with wind/solar measurement and remote sensing preferred.
- Familiarity with UK grid and planning regulations a plus
- GIS experience (QGIS/ArcGIS), visualization tools (Revit), FEED and detailed design a plus
