The PEP team works closely with the investment teams at Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners across the US, UK and Australian energy markets. PEP was established to provide Quinbrook with enhanced capability in project origination, development, asset management and revenue optimisation. Projects developed by PEP are intended for future investment by Quinbrook via its managed funds.
Job Summary:
The Senior Asset Manager will be responsible for day-to-day technical, commercial and operational oversight of a portfolio of renewable energy assets.
The initial period will involve working with, and overseeing the performance of, retained external asset management firms, whilst simultaneously preparing and developing an in-house function ready to transfer asset management services to PEP over time.
The second, extended period will see the continued growth and development of a high-performing asset management team with an increasing AUM.
The role will be responsible for optimal performance, risk mitigation, regulatory compliance, and maximised returns across all assets: value-add will be a constant, enduring focus.
The ideal candidate will bring deep industry knowledge, strong technical and analytical ability, excellent communication skills, and project management attributes to manage cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Asset Performance Management: Monitoring asset performance using various platforms and implementing improvements to enhance efficiency and profitability
- Operational Oversight: Coordinate external asset managers, O&M providers, OEMs, and other retained contractors to ensure compliance across key contracts with services being provided in a timely, effective manner
- Financial Management: Oversee budgets, forecasts, and overall financial performance of the asset portfolio. Analyse variances and implement cost-saving strategies
- Contract Management: Manage Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), land leases and LPA/DCO planning documents, EPC contracts, and various service agreements. Arranging and managing competitive tenders for various services in the operational phase
- Compliance & Risk Mitigation: Ensure operational assets are always compliant with all contractual, environmental, safety, and regulatory obligations. Devising & implementing risk management strategies across the portfolio
- Stakeholder Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports to internal leadership, investors, lenders, and regulatory bodies
- Acquisitions & Onboarding: Assist with the evaluation of potential primary and secondary market acquisitions, supporting due diligence and/or plant design and procurement activities. Onboarding new/operational projects into the portfolio
- Divestments & Sales: Ensure projects are always prepared for divestment, create comprehensive VDRs when required and provide integral support during the future sale of assets
- Collaboration & Leadership: Mentor junior asset managers and coordinate cross-functional efforts with engineering, legal, finance, and development teams
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, finance, business, or a related field (Master’s or MBA preferred)
- 7+ years of direct experience in asset management within the renewable energy sector, managing utility-scale solar, wind and BESS projects: strong technical understanding of each technology
- Deep understanding of renewable energy technologies, energy markets, and regulatory frameworks, with a focus on BESS
- Proficient in financial and performance modelling, asset performance software (e.g., PowerBI, SCADA, AMP/s), and contract management
- Strong leadership and project management skills: helping to grow a high-performing team, lead and mentor junior professionals
- Attention to detail and drive: the ability to work independently and take initiative
- Excellent communication skills and ability to consistently produce very high-quality product
- Ability to travel occasionally to project sites or regional offices. Occasional international travel may be required
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in managing transmission-connected solar PV and BESS a distinct advantage
- Familiarity with ESG reporting standards and sustainability frameworks
- Exposure to the investment process and investor/lender liaison
- Demonstrable experience of establishing appropriate and effective asset management processes (ideally, aligned with ISO 5501)
Location, Travel
- Hybrid role (no less than 2 days per week in Swindon office
- Regular travel to project locations
- International travel may be occasionally required
