A leading independent fostering provider is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Senior Supervising Social Worker to join their growing team in the North East. This role is designed for a practitioner who is passionate about delivering high-quality, trauma-informed support to foster carers and ensuring the best possible outcomes for children in care. Operating on a home-based model with necessary regional travel, the successful candidate will work closely with the Registered Manager to maintain an effective, compliant, and safeguarding-led service.
The Role Summary
The Senior Supervising Social Worker is responsible for providing robust supervision and support to an allocated caseload of foster carers. The primary focus is to ensure stable, well-matched placements where the child’s voice is at the heart of every decision. Candidates must be based in the North East and possess significant Independent Fostering Agency (IFA) experience, demonstrating a deep understanding of Fostering Services Regulations and National Minimum Standards.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Carer Supervision: Providing regular, high-quality support and formal supervision to foster carers at least monthly.
- Child Advocacy: Ensuring the child or young person is seen at least bi-monthly in placement and that their views are accurately recorded.
- Safeguarding & Matching: Leading on safe matching and placement planning while responding promptly to safeguarding concerns or significant events.
- Assessment & Reporting: Undertaking fostering assessments (including Form F), producing analytical reports, and presenting findings to the Fostering Panel.
- Compliance & Reviews: Contributing to annual foster carer reviews and ensuring all key documents, such as Safer Caring Plans, are up to date.
- System Management: Maintaining meticulous records and reports on the CHARMS system to support audit and inspection readiness.
- Duty Rota: Participating in the agency’s duty and out-of-hours rota arrangements as required.
Requirements
- Qualifications: Recognised Social Work qualification and current Social Work England registration.
- Experience: Significant post-qualifying experience in children’s social care, specifically within an IFA setting.
- Skills: Exceptional analytical writing skills for Form F assessments and a high level of IT competence.
- Logistics: A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for travel across the North East.
