We are looking for an experienced fixed assets technical consultant to advise local councils on managing, valuing, and accounting for public property and infrastructure in compliance with strict public sector standards like the CIPFA Code of Practice.
Core Responsibilities
- Asset Valuation: Calculating accurate values for land, buildings, and infrastructure for council financial statements.
- Asset Registers: Maintaining clear and compliant records of what the council owns, including additions, impairments, and disposals.
- Data and Software Management: Implementing and updating specialized property and asset management software systems.
- Condition Appraisals: Assessing the physical state of public buildings and planning for future maintenance or repairs.
- Strategic Planning: Advising councils on whether to hold, invest in, or sell off underperforming assets.
Key Frameworks & Standards
- CIPFA Code: Following the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy rules for local authority accounting.
- RICS Standards: Applying Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors guidelines for property valuation.
