As a Finance Assistant at Privalgo, you will play an important role in supporting the effective operation of the Finance function and the wider business. This is a broad finance role that provides exposure across financial operations, cash management, controls, reporting, supplier management and client administration, as well as day to day finance support activities.

Working closely with the Finance Director and wider team, you will help ensure financial information is accurate, reconciliations are completed on time, payments are processed efficiently, records are maintained to a high standard, and finance processes continue to support the growth of the business. The role offers an excellent opportunity to build a long-term career in finance within a fast-moving, regulated, and growing organisation.

You will gain exposure to finance operations, financial controls, reporting processes, cash management activities, and continuous improvement initiatives, developing both your technical finance knowledge and commercial understanding of how the business operates. Objectives for the Role (6-12 months):

  • Ensure the timely and accurate processing of finance transactions to support strong financial control and business operations.
  • Maintain high-quality financial records and supporting documentation that enable accurate reporting, effective governance, and operational excellence.
  • Support the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of core finance processes, ensuring reliable financial information is available to the business.
  • Contribute to a smooth and efficient month-end close by ensuring information is complete, issues are identified early, and finance controls are followed consistently.
  • Take accountability for assigned finance processes, delivering work to a high standard while supporting the wider objectives of the Finance team.
  • Build the knowledge and confidence to operate independently across routine finance activities and become a trusted partner to colleagues across the business.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to enhance efficiency, improve controls, and support the ongoing development of the Finance function as the business grows.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Finance Operations: Process purchase invoices and assist with supplier payment runs, expense management, approval tracking, supplier administration, and routine finance queries. Assist with sales ledger administration, customer invoicing support, client records, finance inbox management, and maintaining supplier and customer information. Support the preparation and posting of accounting journals where required.
  • Reconciliations and controls: Prepare and perform daily and monthly bank reconciliation tasks, including checking supporting information and transaction references. Investigate reconciliation differences, maintain supporting schedules, and escalate unresolved issues promptly. Support balance sheet reconciliations and other finance control activities that contribute to strong financial governance. Help maintain accurate records and supporting schedules to ensure the Finance team remains audit-ready.
  • Cash Management and Credit Control: Support debtor management activities, including customer follow-up, maintaining accurate records, and monitoring outstanding balances. Help ensure invoice queries and exceptions are resolved promptly to support effective cash collection. Monitor aged debtors and highlight overdue or high-risk items to the Finance Director. Contribute to strong working capital management through accurate administration and timely follow-up of outstanding actions.
  • Reporting and Data Quality: Maintain accurate finance trackers, schedules, and working papers that support the smooth running of the Finance function. Support the preparation of management information, financial reporting, regulatory submissions, and audit requests. Perform data validation checks and identify gaps, inconsistencies, or areas requiring further investigation. Contribute to the production of reliable financial information that supports effective decision-making across the business.
  • Team and Business Support: Act as a responsive and reliable point of support for routine finance queries from colleagues, suppliers, and other stakeholders. Support supplier onboarding, finance administration, and other operational activities that contribute to the effective running of the Finance function. Work collaboratively with colleagues across the business to ensure finance processes operate efficiently and professionally.
  • Continuous Improvement: Follow agreed processes and controls while maintaining high standards of accuracy and attention to detail. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, strengthen controls, and reduce manual administration. Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of finance processes, systems, and ways of working as the business continues to grow.

Experience and Background:

This role would suit someone in the early stages of their finance career who is looking to broaden their experience within a growing and commercially focused business. You may currently be working as a Finance Assistant, Accounts Assistant, Accounts Payable Assistant, Accounts Receivable Assistant, Finance Administrator, Bookkeeper, or within another finance support role and be looking to take the next step in your development.

  • A minimum of 1 year experience in finance accounts assistant work, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or a similar finance support role.
  • Comfortable working with finance systems, spreadsheets, and structured processes in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail and an ability to handle financial information accurately and confidentially.
  • Able to handle routine finance information with care, accuracy, confidentiality, and an awareness of process controls.
  • Experience supporting reconciliations, invoice processing, or reporting financial controls would be advantageous.
  • A willingness to learn, take ownership within a growing finance team.

  • The Finance Director and wider team can rely on the role holder to follow up, keep processes moving, and communicate clearly.
  • Outstanding items are actively followed up, helping to support strong financial controls and effective cash management.

Office Days:

As a business, we aim to work from the office at least three days a week, with Finance coverage Monday – Thursday, to support collaboration, communication and effective decision-making. Our standard working hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm. We trust you to manage your time and work effectively, ensuring you deliver on your responsibilities and support the business regardless of where you are working.
