Assistant General Manager - Leeds An exciting opportunity has become available to join the management team opening a brand-new entertainment venue: Prison Island multi-activity venue in Leeds. We’re looking for an experienced, commercially aware Assistant General Manager who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys developing people and is ready to play a key role in building an exciting new business from day one. Working closely with the General Manager, you’ll help recruit and develop the team, establish the culture, set high operational standards and create an exceptional customer experience that keeps guests coming back. About Us: Prison Island is one of Europe’s fastest-growing indoor entertainment concepts. Inspired by adventure games such as The Crystal Maze , teams move freely between a series of interactive challenge cells, testing their skill, teamwork, logic and physical ability as they compete for the highest score. The Leeds venue will combine Prison Island with a range of interactive experiences, creating one of the city’s most exciting leisure destinations. The Role: Reporting to the General Manager, you’ll play a key role in the successful opening and day-to-day operation of Prison Island Leeds. You’ll support the General Manager in building and developing a high-performing team, delivering exceptional customer experiences and achieving ambitious business goals. This is a hands-on management role. You’ll be equally comfortable leading a busy shift, coaching your team, engaging with guests, reviewing performance or stepping in to solve any operational challenge. You’ll also be trusted to take responsibility for the venue in the General Manager’s absence, ensuring the business continues to operate safely, commercially and to the highest possible standards. Key Responsibilities: Support the successful launch and day-to-day operation of the venue. Help recruit, train, coach and develop a high-performing and engaged team. Lead shifts and deliver exceptional customer experiences that generate five-star reviews and repeat business. Support the delivery of revenue, profitability, labour and business KPIs. Maximise sales opportunities through add-ons, upselling, multiple activities and repeat visits. Support rota planning, stock control, cash management and other operational controls affecting venue profitability. Help build relationships with local businesses, schools, universities, hotels and community organisations to generate awareness and bookings. Support local marketing and social media activity to drive visibility and engagement. Become an expert in the venue’s booking and operational systems and support the training of the wider team. Maintain the highest standards of presentation, cleanliness, equipment and operational excellence throughout the venue. Ensure health & safety procedures, company policies and operational standards are consistently followed. Support alcohol licensing compliance and ensure licensing conditions are followed when responsible for the venue. Lead by example, creating an energetic, professional and accountable team culture. About You: You’ll be an experienced people leader who enjoys developing teams, improving performance and creating memorable customer experiences. You’ll understand how great customer service and strong commercial performance work together, and you’ll be comfortable using targets and KPIs to help drive the business forward. You’ll naturally take ownership, solve problems proactively and be willing to roll your sleeves up whenever required. Essential Experience: A minimum of two years’ supervisory or management experience within leisure, hospitality, retail or another fast-paced customer-focused business. Proven experience leading, coaching and developing teams. Good commercial awareness with experience working towards business targets and KPIs. Experience managing busy shifts, customer service and operational standards. Experience supporting labour, rotas, stock or other operational costs. Excellent organisation and communication skills. A positive, hands-on approach with the confidence to lead from the front. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays. Desirable Experience: Experience opening a new venue or business. Experience within the leisure, hospitality or competitive socialising sector. Experience working within a licensed venue. Personal Licence Holder (or willing to obtain one). First Aid qualification.
