Duty Manager - Leeds £30,000 per year & performance related bonus Prison Island is coming to Leeds, and we’re looking for Duty Managers to join the management team opening our brand-new multi-activity venue. Perfect for an experienced Supervisor ready to take the next step, or an established Duty Manager who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team, manage daily operations and deliver exceptional guest experiences across two floors of activities, food and drink - with real responsibility and the authority to make decisions. About Prison Island: Prison Island is a unique, team-based adventure experience where players take on a series of interactive challenge cells testing skill, teamwork, logic and physical ability as they compete for the highest score. Our new two-floor Leeds venue will feature Prison Island, Interactive Darts, Interactive Golf and more, alongside a bar and food offering - creating an exciting new leisure and social destination in the heart of Leeds. The Role: As Duty Manager, you’ll take ownership of the daily operation - ensuring our activities, bar, food service and guest areas run safely, smoothly and to the highest standards. You’ll work with the General Manager and Guest Experience Manager, leading the team during trading, managing staffing and deployment, resolving issues and maintaining the energy and atmosphere that makes Prison Island special. You’ll also help drive commercial performance through add-on sales, food and drink purchases, five-star reviews and repeat visits, while delivering agreed operational and commercial targets. What You’ll Be Doing: Lead daily operations across both floors, overseeing activities, bar, food service and guest areas. Brief, direct and support the team, managing staff deployment, breaks and shift coverage in response to demand. Oversee guest arrivals, bookings, activities, corporate groups and celebrations, ensuring excellent service throughout. Manage daily bar and food operations, maintaining service standards, stock availability, presentation and compliance. Drive add-on sales and secondary spend, encouraging natural selling, five-star reviews and repeat visits. Coach and motivate the team, recognising great performance and addressing areas for improvement. Handle guest enquiries, feedback and complaints, taking ownership and following through to resolution. Oversee opening and closing, cash handling, till reconciliation, stock checks and shift handovers. Maintain high standards of equipment, cleanliness, health & safety, food hygiene and alcohol licensing, taking action when issues arise. Support venue improvements, operational targets and opportunities to capture authentic content for our social platforms. What We’re Looking For: We’re looking for a natural leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, brings out the best in their team and takes pride in delivering an exceptional guest experience. You’ll be confident making decisions, managing competing priorities and keeping operations running smoothly. Most importantly, you’ll lead by example, take ownership and make things happen. You’ll bring - Experience supervising or leading a team in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment. Confidence managing busy shifts, directing staff and making decisions. A hands-on leadership style with the ability to motivate and develop people. Strong organisation, communication and problem-solving skills. Commercial awareness, initiative and a commitment to high standards. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays. Experience within leisure, hospitality, attractions, competitive socialising, entertainment or retail would be particularly relevant. Experience in licensed venues, food and drink operations or new openings would be an advantage. A Personal Licence or First Aid qualification would also be beneficial, but neither is essential. Our Culture: Our values shape how we work, how we treat our guests and what we expect from each other. Bring the Buzz - Create unforgettable moments and an atmosphere people want to be part of. Bring energy, engage with guests and help make every visit feel like an experience. Bring Your A-Game - Take pride in your work and maintain high standards. Be prepared, stay switched on and care about the details. Team Up - Great experiences are built by great teams. Communicate, support each other and step in when someone needs you. Own It - If you see it, you own it. Take responsibility, think ahead and make things happen rather than waiting for someone else to do it. Champion the Venue - Believe in what we do and be proud to talk about it. Know our experiences, showcase the venue and look for opportunities to bring people back. What We Offer: The opportunity to help open a brand-new multi-activity venue. Real responsibility and the authority to make operational decisions. Comprehensive training and ongoing development. Genuine opportunities for progression as the business grows. Company pension and staff discounts across our activities. If you’re someone who enjoys leading from the front, thrives in a busy environment and takes pride in keeping a team and venue running at their best, we’d love to hear from you.
