Our cutting‑edge systems (such as the high‑altitude PHASA‑35) have clear commercial value, are developed at pace and address critical customer needs.

We are looking for a skilled and detail‑oriented operator to join our motor assembly line at our Kidlington site. The role will involve hands‑on assembly and testing of high‑performance electric motors and associated components for UAV applications. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a technical or manufacturing environment and be confident using a variety of tools and equipment.

Day‑to‑day tasks will include:

  • Precision assembly, quality checking, and ensuring processes are carried out safely and efficiently to meet production requirements.
  • Providing feedback to production engineers on process challenges, tooling, or potential improvements to support continuous development of the line.

The successful candidate will take pride in producing high‑quality work, follow specifications with accuracy, and demonstrate good problem‑solving ability when issues arise.

Tasks and Accountabilities

  • Assemble high‑performance electric motors and associated components for UAV applications according to detailed specifications.
  • Ensure all assembly tasks are completed with accuracy, maintaining fine tolerances.
  • Perform routine quality checks to ensure products meet specifications and production standards.
  • Identify and report any defects or process issues to production engineers.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including handling of strong permanent magnets and magnetic assemblies.
  • Maintain a safe working environment for yourself and colleagues.
  • Provide feedback to engineers on tooling, assembly processes, or potential improvements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, quality, and production output.
  • Conduct final assembly, testing, and packaging of products ready for delivery.
  • Ensure all completed products meet the company’s high‑quality standards.

Requirements

  • Ability to handle fine tolerances and perform accurate manual assembly tasks.
  • Experience working with adhesives, resins, or impregnation processes in a production environment.
  • Understanding of basic quality control procedures and ability to follow product specifications.
  • Awareness of safe handling practices for strong permanent magnets and magnetic assemblies.
  • Comfortable with final assembly, testing, and packaging of technical products.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high workmanship standards.
  • Ability to follow safety and operating procedures consistently.
  • Good teamwork and communication skills, with a proactive approach to problem‑solving.

Principal Terms and Conditions

  • Start – ASAP.
  • Location – Kidlington, Oxfordshire.
  • Post – Permanent.
  • Working time – 37.5 hrs per week.
  • Salary – To be agreed depending on experience.
  • Pension – 10% contribution from the company included plus a salary exchange for AVCs.
  • Green Car/EV scheme through salary exchange.
  • Annual Leave – 25 days plus bank holidays, rising to 28 days after 3 years’ service.
  • Eligible to participate in BAE Systems Share Incentive Scheme.
  • Cycle to Work Scheme and Halfords Trade Discount Card.
