Goods In, Stores and Facilities Operative

Prismatic is a technology development company, specialising in the design, manufacture and delivery of innovative, high value aerospace products and systems. Prismatic is a subsidiary of BAE systems, led by a technically and commercially focused team. Our cutting-edge systems (such as the high-altitude PHASA-35) have clear commercial value, are developed at pace and address critical customer needs.

This is a newly created role to support the efficient operation of the factory, goods receiving processes, and site facilities. The role is responsible for receiving and inspecting incoming materials, maintaining accurate inventory records, ensuring safe and organised warehouse storage, and assisting with the upkeep and smooth operation of the facility. The postholder will contribute to operational efficiency, health and safety compliance, and the timely availability of materials required for production and business operations.

Tasks and Accountabilities

Goods In

  • Receive deliveries and check all incoming goods against purchase orders and delivery documentation.
  • Inspect incoming materials for quantity, condition, and compliance with specified requirements.
  • Report damaged, incorrect, or missing items promptly.
  • Accurately record and book goods into inventory systems.
  • Label and store materials in designated locations.
  • Liaise with suppliers, purchasing, and production teams regarding delivery issues.

Warehouse Operations

  • Safely store, move, and issue stock using appropriate handling equipment.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through stock control and cycle counting activities.
  • Pick, pack, and prepare materials for internal use or shipment.
  • Ensure warehouse locations are organised, clearly identified, and maintained to a high standard.
  • Support stock investigations and corrective actions where discrepancies are identified.
  • Assist with loading and unloading vehicles.

Facilities Support

  • Conduct routine site inspections and identify maintenance requirements.
  • Support facility housekeeping standards across warehouse, production, office, and external areas.
  • Coordinate with contractors and service providers as required.
  • Support waste management and recycling activities.
  • Assist with site security procedures, including access control and inspections.
  • Ensure equipment and facility assets are maintained and reported when defects are identified.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Comply with all company Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality procedures.
  • Operate material handling equipment safely and in accordance with training.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and hazard-free working environment.
  • Participate in risk assessments, safety inspections, and continuous improvement activities.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Inventory accuracy.
  • Goods received and processed on time.
  • Warehouse organisation and housekeeping standards.
  • Stock discrepancy levels.

  • Knowledge, Skills & Experience – Essential
  • Previous experience in a warehouse, stores, logistics, or goods-in environment.
  • Good understanding of stock control and inventory management principles.
  • Ability to use warehouse management ERP systems.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced operational environment.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Technical/ General:

  • Counterbalance Forklift Truck Licence.
  • Experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Basic facilities maintenance experience.

Previous Working Conditions Experience:

  • Primarily warehouse and operational site-based.

  • Accepting and processing incoming deliveries in accordance with company procedures.
  • Reporting and quarantining non-conforming materials.
  • Escalating stock, facility, safety, or maintenance concerns requiring management intervention.
