Our client is looking for a Senior Linux System Administrator to join their expanding organisation that powers some of the world’s most important applications in healthcare, finance and government. Our client is a privately held company headquartered in the United Kingdom and the USA, with offices worldwide, and software products are used daily by millions of people in more than 100 countries worldwide.
You will be based in our client's new prestigious office, a short walk from Windsor train station, and due to the company’s great culture and office buzz, you will be working in the office 3 days per week.
In the role, you will get involved with designing cage, rack and server layouts and ensuring the ongoing provision of space, power and cooling in support of existing and forecasted solutions whilst working with engineering/architecting teams to design solutions to maximise performance, efficiency and operability of hosted solutions.
As a senior Linux System Administrator, you will support all areas of hosted services, ensuring the timely resolution of incidents and/or problems affecting hosted solutions and deploying approved changes and/or updates as required.
The core technical environment:
- Linux deployment and management experience with RHEL
- Scripting skills (Shell, PowerShell, Bash)
- Puppet used for Automation – any other experience is good i.e. Ansible, Chef
- VMware 6 deployment and management experience (100s of virtual servers)
You will be working in a mission-critical production environment. For success in this role you must have experience working with ‘live’ production environments as it is not an option for their servers to go down. Your ability to troubleshoot and fix problems and identify them before they happen will be key!
Responsibilities:
- Lead deployment of new applications and changes, ensuring that all service components are well documented and monitored.
- Hands-on administration and maintenance of hosted solutions and related infrastructure firewalls, switches, servers and storage.
- Provide technical support for all areas of hosted services.
- Lead in the provisioning and deployment of server, network and other hosting-related equipment, including hands-on building and configuration.
- Work with stakeholders across the solution's lifecycle to ensure that pre-operational sign-offs are obtained.
