The role
This is a senior, client-facing AWS Technical Account Manager role focused exclusively on public sector and UK-cleared environments. You will own strategic AWS cloud transformation accounts within central government, defence, policing, and wider public sector organisations. Acting as the primary bridge between executive stakeholders and delivery teams, you will ensure successful AWS adoption, governance, and long-term account growth. Your focus will be turning AWS technical delivery into measurable public sector outcomes, cost optimisation, security posture improvement, operational resilience, and faster digital service delivery.
Core Responsibilities
- You will act as the senior accountable owner for your AWS public sector accounts, trusted by both technical teams and C-level stakeholders.
- Own executive-level client relationships across public sector organisations.
- Lead post-sales AWS engagement across complex cloud transformation and migration programmes.
- Develop and execute structured account growth strategies within regulated environments.
- Oversee delivery governance across multiple AWS workstreams (migration, modernisation, optimisation).
- Manage financial performance including margin, forecasting, and cost control.
- Act as senior escalation point for programme risks or delivery challenges.
- Translate AWS delivery into clear business outcomes using measurable value metrics.
- Lead quarterly business reviews, roadmap planning sessions, and value-realisation reporting.
- Position AWS-native services aligned to security, compliance, FinOps, and operational resilience requirements.
Public Sector & Clearance Requirements (Essential)
- You must be eligible for UK Security Clearance.
- Hold British citizenship or Indefinite Leave to Remain.
- Have resided in the UK for the past 5 years.
- Have no criminal record or financial irregularities.
- Have demonstrable experience working with UK public sector clients (central government, defence, healthcare, policing, or local government).
- Experience working within G-Cloud, DOS frameworks, or public procurement environments is highly desirable.
Technical Environment (AWS-Focused)
You will operate across modern AWS cloud and platform engineering environments, including:
- AWS landing zones and multi-account architectures
- AWS security and compliance frameworks (CIS, NCSC guidance, ISO-aligned environments)
- AWS cost optimisation and FinOps practices
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
- Containerised workloads (EKS)
- DevOps automation pipelines
- Cloud governance and operational resilience design
You will collaborate closely with engineering, consulting, product, sales, and finance teams to ensure high-quality AWS delivery and structured account expansion.
Ideal Background
- Strong AWS experience (hands-on knowledge not required but must understand AWS architecture deeply).
- Proven experience managing complex public sector cloud accounts.
- Experience delivering programmes within regulated or security-sensitive environments.
- Experience producing executive briefings, value realisation reports, and public sector case studies.
- AWS certifications preferred (Solutions Architect, Advanced Networking, Security Specialty etc.).
- Strong understanding of public sector governance and procurement models.
Why Join
You will join a scaling AWS-focused cloud consultancy delivering secure, high-impact transformation across UK public sector organisations. The work is strategic, visible, and complex, with real influence over delivery models, long-term client partnerships, and revenue growth within government-backed programmes. This role suits someone who thrives in ownership-heavy environments and operates confidently at the intersection of AWS architecture, governance, and commercial strategy.
