You’ll step in as a Founding Engineer within an early-stage AI venture studio that builds and launches creator-led B2C software businesses at speed. This is a backend-leaning role (circa 80% backend) where you will own core systems end to end, shaping APIs, designing data models, and shipping production code used by real users from day one. You won’t be handed Jira tickets and told what to build. Instead, you’ll work directly with the CTO, making architectural decisions.
This is a contract role for someone who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys high ownership, and wants to make a visible impact quickly, without the drag of corporate process.
What They’re Looking For (Non-Negotiables)
- Ideally, you’ve worked in B2C businesses or VC-backed startups where products scaled rapidly and engineering had to keep up.
- You naturally take responsibility, communicate clearly, and act with intent, with more founder mentality than feature factory.
- You’re comfortable building things that don’t yet have perfect answers.
What You’ll Work With
- Python development at a high level
- FastAPI or adjacent Python backend frameworks
- API design and backend architecture fundamentals
- PostgreSQL and/or MongoDB
- React or React Native for frontend collaboration
- AWS serverless infrastructure
- Docker for bespoke services
Nice to Haves
- B2C mobile or consumer product experience
- Experience in VC-backed or hyper-growth environments
- Node.js development alongside Python
- Vector databases such as Chroma and embedding pipelines
- LangChain, CrewAI, or similar AI orchestration frameworks
- Practical security and data privacy awareness
- Linear or similar planning tools
- Experience with image modelling AI systems
- AI-assisted development using tools such as Claude Code
Why Join / Projects
This venture studio partners directly with large creators (often with 1M+ followers) as co-founders, meaning every product launches with built-in distribution, immediate users, and fast feedback loops. Under the hood, you’ll be building on an internal AI-first factory made up of reusable components, agent-driven workflows, and a growing knowledge graph that improves with every product shipped. The goal is simple: launch high-quality ventures dramatically faster than traditional startups. You’ll gain exposure, ownership, and shipping velocity that would usually take years to accumulate, all compressed into a contract where your work directly shapes real products in the wild.
Employee Benefits
- £400 per day contract rate
- Outside IR35
- Upskilling allowance
- Access to best-in-class AI development tools
- High-autonomy, low-ego engineering environment
- London-based, with flexibility for the right contractor
