This opportunity is in a company that is an early-stage AI governance startup building a verifiable record for the decisions automated systems make on people's behalf: insurance applications, immigration status, content provenance, the kind of calls that increasingly happen without a human in the loop. Think of it as a notary for AI decisions, scored, graded, and recorded, with cross-network fraud detection layered on top.
Right now the founding team is in Edinburgh, fundraising for a round later this year, already with early traction and a strong pipeline of senior advisors and investors behind them.
The Founder's Associate exists to take the operational load off the founder so he can stay on the things only he can do. You would be the person who turns ideas into systems, keeps momentum on the work in flight, and makes sure things actually get done. This is in person in Edinburgh when you are working, so you need to be local or willing to be.
This role starts as a part-time contract. As the company raises and scales, this role is mapped to grow into a full-time position, then Chief of Staff, and potentially a Chief Operating Officer seat further out.
What They're Looking For
- Operational excellence (you have run the day-to-day of a business or team before and made it tighter)
- Strong communication skills, written and verbal
- Edinburgh-based, able to work in person with the founder
- Genuine belief in the company and the drive to help build it, not just clock hours
Nice to Haves
- Prior experience at an early-stage startup or another high-autonomy, plate-spinning environment
- Chief of Staff, operations, or founder experience
Why Join
You are the first hire at a company solving a problem that is only going to get bigger as AI makes more decisions about people without anyone watching. The growth path is mapped out and the funding round is close, so the part-time contract is genuinely a way in rather than the ceiling. If you want to be early at something with a sharp angle and an ambitious founder, this is that.
The Package
- £250 to £300 per week
- Outside IR35, contract basis
- 10 to 15 hours per week, flexible on exact timing
- In person in Edinburgh
- Path to full-time, equity, and a full package on the post-raise round
