Remote first with the expectation to go to the Chester Office once a month (expenses paid). Our client provides a combination of services (mainly software & applications) to customers in the legal, health & safety, employment law, ISO regulation and cyber security fields. They currently have a Core IT Team of 5 which will grow this year to a team of 13, so there is already a foundation team in place that you will be working with. There is a general standardisation strategy where the company's CRM, ERP and core IT systems are all being unified.

In addition to this, the firm’s strategy is to grow via acquisitions, so there will be no shortage of IT projects and programmes associated with the newly purchased firms’ IT infrastructure that will need to be migrated into ‘the mother ship’. You will play a key role in firewall management, routing, data movement, and network security, ensuring seamless connectivity between on-premise environments and public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

Key skills:
  • Cloud Networking – familiarity with AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud networking principles
  • Experience with firewalls and security - Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco ASA, VPNs, access controls, and encryption
  • Previous experience maintaining and optimising on-prem and cloud-based network infrastructure
  • Troubleshooting and monitoring using Wireshark, TCPDump, NetFlow to diagnose and resolve network issues
  • Expertise in routing and switching in WAN/LAN architectures, load balancing, and network performance optimisation
Nice to have skills:
  • Automation and scripting with Python, Terraform, or Ansible
Certifications:
  • CCNA, CCNP, AWS/Azure/GCP networking certifications
  • Software-Defined Networking (SDN) & Network Automation experience
Projects:
  • Design and implement scalable, secure network infrastructures across on-prem and cloud
  • Manage and optimise firewalls, VPNs, routing, and switching for efficient connectivity
  • Monitor and troubleshoot network performance to ensure high availability
  • Enhance security by enforcing access controls, encryption, and compliance policies
  • Collaborate with cloud and security teams to align network strategies with business needs
  • Maintain clear documentation of network configurations and procedures

For success in this role, you must have a can-do attitude and be happy to get stuck in with the team. As this is a comparatively small team where skills and resources are pooled, you will be expected to ‘muck in’ on occasions with tasks and duties perhaps more junior than you would normally expect. It’s all about having the right attitude to help your peers when they need it and bringing a positive approach.

Benefits:
  • 25 Days holiday + Birthday off
  • Health Cash plan
  • Life Assurance
  • Gym allowance
  • Pension Scheme
  • 2 days per year of paid volunteering
  • Will writing service
  • Wellbeing services
