Priory Hospital Bristol is seeking a highly skilled Consultant Psychiatrist/Medical Director to join our team in a dual role across our Private Addictions Ward.

Department: Medical and Psychiatry

Location: Priory Hospital Bristol

Compensation: £176,000 / year

Position: Full-time, 5 days per week with flexibility to work one day remotely (Tuesday or Wednesday). A competitive stipend is offered in recognition of the Medical Director responsibilities.

What you'll be doing:

  • Provide both clinical and strategic leadership across the hospital.
  • Lead the recruitment, induction, and ongoing development of medical staff.
  • Oversee appraisals, revalidation, and performance management processes.
  • Ensure compliance with clinical governance, healthcare policy, and best practice standards.
  • Contribute to strategic decision‑making as part of the Senior Management Team.
  • Maintain effective medical cover, including out‑of‑hours and leave arrangements.
  • Lead on investigations, complaints, and incident management.
  • Drive continuous improvement through learning from incidents, feedback, and outcomes.
  • Manage your own clinical caseload and maintain high standards of care.
  • Represent the hospital with external stakeholders, commissioners, and partners.

What you'll bring to the role:

  • MRCPsych (or equivalent).
  • CCT (or equivalent) and inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register.
  • Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician status.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience at Consultant level.
  • Demonstrable experience leading multidisciplinary teams.
