Priory Hospital Chelmsford is looking to recruit a Ward Manager to join the team. This is a full time 37.5 hours role.

About the facility

Chelmer Ward and The Lodge are private general psychiatry and addiction treatment facilities. We offer support to people in crisis with mental health issues, such as psychosis, mood disorders, personality disorders, anxiety and trauma. The ward has a multidisciplinary team consisting of experienced consultant psychiatrists, specialty doctors, mental health nurses and therapists, who provide person-centred care in collaboration with the patient to maximise recovery.

What you'll be doing

  • You will be part of a compassionate team committed to our patients’ wellbeing.
  • You will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients.
  • Manage the ward and resources effectively, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and skill mix of nursing experience and skills, including rota management, annual leave and training arrangements.
  • Have full oversight of the nursing staff rota and ensure rota management and rostering standards are maintained and effective.
  • Ensure that all members of the nursing team receive clinical supervision, appraisal, CPD requirements and complete mandatory training.
  • Address shortfalls in development and ensure that training and performance issues are addressed.

What you'll bring to the role

The ideal candidate will be currently registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as a Registered Mental Health Nurse or with the Health and Care Professions Council, with at least two years’ experience in a supervisory capacity within a relevant care setting. Appropriate registration or relevant ward experience is essential, alongside a willingness to complete further clinical, managerial, and leadership training and development. The candidate should be a trained and current Assessor/Supervisor, with strong computer literacy skills. They will have experience as a registered practitioner in clinical settings relevant to the post, with evidence of continuing professional development. Experience in clinical audit and/or service improvement based on evidence is desirable, as is the ability to work in environments requiring the management of multiple priorities. Additionally, the candidate must have prior experience supervising nursing or care staff.
