Priory Hospital Chelmsford is looking to recruit a Deputy Ward Manager to join the CAMHS Unit team. This is a full time 37.5 hour role.
Chelmsford is one of the UK’s leading treatment centres and is rated by former patients for its excellence, dedication and commitment, as well as producing outstanding treatment outcomes. The hospital first opened in 1992 and since then has established an excellent reputation for providing fast access to high quality treatment for a range of addictions as well as treatment for mental health difficulties. We offer private autism assessments for adults and children, as well as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) assessments for young people. We also have a dedicated young people's mental health inpatient service, Willow Ward, which provides expert care in a supportive environment. As well as our inpatient offering for young people, we also offer a day hospital providing structured therapeutic support without the need for a full admission. Chelmer Ward and The Lodge are private general psychiatry and addiction treatment facilities. We offer support to people in crisis with mental health issues, such as psychosis, mood disorders, personality disorders, anxiety and trauma.
The ward has a multidisciplinary team consisting of experienced consultant psychiatrists, specialty doctors, mental health nurses and therapists, who provide person‑centred care, in collaboration with the patient, to allow them to maximise their recovery journey.
What you'll be doing
You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients' wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. You will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients. Works as Senior Nurse in a Ward or equivalent area ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, their families and visitors. Apply relevant policies and statutory requirements within the ward and hospital framework of governance and communicates requirements to the wider team. Ensures that risk is assessed and managed across the immediate and wider working environment and that statutory requirements are met. Respects and applies the requirements of diversity and inclusion, promoting and role modelling these across the team.
What you'll bring to the role
The ideal candidate will be currently registered with the Nursing Midwifery Council as a Registered Mental Health Nurse and meet all revalidation requirements, along with experience as a trained assessor or supervisor. They will bring essential clinical supervision experience (with formal training being desirable) and demonstrate a strong commitment to continued professional development, including ongoing growth in leadership capabilities. Solid computer skills are important for this role. The candidate should also have at least 18 months to two years of post‑registration experience and be able to show clear expertise within a defined clinical specialty.
