Located in Royston, Hertfordshire, Priory Hospital Kneesworth House is a high dependency rehabilitation setting which provides a range of specialist recovery pathways. The hospital also provides acute and psychiatric intensive care, medium and low secure services, and a community focused rehabilitation ward.
A vacancy has arisen for a Registered Practitioner Psychologist to join the friendly, supportive and expanding psychology team based at Kneesworth House Hospital. The team consists of experienced qualified psychologists, trainee and assistant psychologists, and art therapists. Our psychologists work alongside colleagues from Psychiatry, Nursing, Occupational Therapy and Social Work to provide high quality care.
The role includes: HCPC Registered Practitioner Psychologist to provide psychological services to adult males across the Acute service [Nightingale Acute Ward & Foxton Acute Ward].
Responsibilities - The successful candidate will be expected to provide:
- A specialist service to people with a mental disorder through developing psychological formulations and assessments, and formulating plans for their psychological treatments.
- Specialist psychological assessments, formulations and brief interventions, as per NICE and best practice guidelines.
- Specialist advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals.
- Work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures.
- Supervision to assistant and trainee psychologists as required.
Qualifications - Candidates will have completed a Postgraduate qualification in clinical, forensic or counselling Psychology and be a Registered Practitioner Psychologist with the Health Care and Professions Council (HCPC). We welcome applications from newly qualified psychologists. The successful candidate will be experienced in working with people with complex mental health needs, where psychosis and severe interpersonal difficulties are part of their presentation. They will be familiar with working through a trauma informed lens to understand what has happened in the life of the individual and to use evidence based interventions to alleviate distress.
Required Skills - Experience of working in an acute setting and experience in at least one therapeutic modality.
Preferred Skills - There are excellent CPD and training opportunities for employees within this service, and funded and accredited training opportunities will be available and agreed as part of the role (subject to the completion of a probationary period). Attendance at national conferences and research interests are also encouraged.
Salary: £48,250 Full Time: 37.5 hours a week (part time will also be considered).
