Priory Hospital Norwich is looking to recruit a Consultant Psychiatrist to join the team. This is a full time post offering 37.5 hours. Set in the Norfolk countryside a mile outside the town of Attleborough, Priory Hospital Norwich is a 24/7 mental health inpatient provision, which provides care for males and females, split across wards which care for differing levels of acuity. We accept referrals from across the UK, and support the NHS with patient flow, by providing a pathway of care, suited to individual needs, including medium to high risk patients. Priory’s acute and PICU services aim to allow more people to be treated closer to home and we support the NHS to repatriate out-of-area patients back to local areas. Norwich also provides a 24/7 rapid response drug and alcohol service including detox.

What you'll be doing

  • You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients' wellbeing.
  • Take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future.
  • Play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans.
  • Provide senior medical leadership and expert psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for patients with complex mental health needs.
  • Lead on the development and review of personalised treatment plans, including pharmacological and therapeutic interventions.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, offering clinical supervision, leadership, and guidance.
  • Manage risk, Mental Health Act responsibilities, safeguarding, and crisis interventions.
  • Contribute to service development, quality improvement initiatives, and professional education.

What you'll bring to the role

  • GMC-registered medical practitioners with Specialist Registration (or eligibility) in Psychiatry.
  • Substantial experience in adult mental health, inpatient services, or specialist psychiatric care.

  • Strong clinical governance knowledge and excellent communication skills.
  • Commitment to CPD, appraisal, and service development.
