Priory Hospital Nelson House has an opportunity for a Senior Occupational Therapist to join our team. Located in Gosport, Hampshire, Priory Hospital Nelson House is a rehabilitation service which offers both level 1 and level 2 care, supporting males presenting with mental health conditions and complex needs, who may also have behaviours that challenge and substance misuse issues.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead the assessment, treatment and evaluation of patients with complex physical, neurological or mental health needs, developing person‑centred care plans to maximise independence and quality of life.
  • Provide clinical leadership and supervision to junior occupational therapists, support staff and students, promoting high standards of practice and professional development.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, liaising with patients, families, healthcare professionals and external agencies to coordinate effective and timely care.
  • Carry out specialist assessments for equipment, adaptations, moving and handling and discharge planning to ensure safe transitions and reduce the risk of hospital readmission.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records, contribute to service improvement initiatives and ensure practice complies with professional standards, legislation and organisational policies.

What you'll bring to the role

Essential for the role – Senior Occupational Therapist Candidates must be HCPC registered and hold a Diploma in Occupational Therapy, or a degree, honours degree or Master's in Occupational Therapy, or have completed formal postgraduate study (award or non‑award bearing). They must also have prior experience working in mental health services as a qualified member of staff, experience supervising Occupational Therapists or Occupational Therapy Assistants and students, and training in relevant models of practice such as MoHO, VdTMoCA and Sensory Integration.
