Mildmay Oaks are looking for a Speech & Language Therapist to join the team on a part-time basis, working 22.5 hours per week. Set in a semi-rural location in Hook, Hampshire, Priory Hospital Mildmay Oaks supports the NHS by providing low secure services and level 2 rehabilitation services for both male and female patients. This includes a specialist learning disability and autism spectrum support.
Responsibilities
- You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients' wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future.
- You will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients.
- Manage and coordinate the implementation of individual treatment plans for speech and language therapy services, ensuring treatments, activities, and interventions are delivered through effective application and communication.
- Receive and respond promptly to referrals, undertaking assessments to identify and prioritise patient needs before planning and delivering the appropriate and relevant interventions on an individual or group basis.
- Maintain accurate and timely records detailing each patient's rehabilitation/progress.
- Ensure the effective and efficient management of more junior staff.
- Maintain and develop close working relationships with professional and clinical colleagues within the multidisciplinary team, ensuring clinical practice aligns with Priory policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- This role requires a relevant degree, HCPC registration, and a postgraduate qualification from RCSLT.
- The successful candidate will have relevant experience, including some in a specialist area, and skills in working with patients with dysphagia and carrying out assessments.
- They will have experience leading and line managing SALT colleagues, or be working at Band 7 level with a desire to develop leadership skills.
- The role also requires experience in clinical supervision and reflective practice, along with an interest in supporting and developing SALT services.
