Mildmay Oaks are looking for a Speech & Language Therapist to join the team on a part-time basis, working 22.5 hours per week. Set in a semi-rural location in Hook, Hampshire, Priory Hospital Mildmay Oaks supports the NHS by providing low secure services and level 2 rehabilitation services for both male and female patients. This includes a specialist learning disability and autism spectrum support.

Responsibilities

  • You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients' wellbeing.
  • Manage and coordinate the implementation of individual treatment plans for speech and language therapy services, ensuring treatments, activities, and interventions are delivered through effective application and communication.
  • Receive and respond promptly to referrals, undertaking assessments to identify and prioritise patient needs before planning and delivering the appropriate and relevant interventions on an individual or group basis.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records detailing each patient’s rehabilitation/progress.
  • Ensure the effective and efficient management of more junior staff.
  • Maintain and develop close working relationships with professional and clinical colleagues within the multidisciplinary team, ensuring clinical practice aligns with Priory policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • This role requires a relevant degree, HCPC registration, and a postgraduate qualification from RCSLT.
  • The successful candidate will have relevant experience, including some in a specialist area, and skills in working with patients with dysphagia and carrying out assessments.
  • They will have experience leading and line managing SALT colleagues, or be working at Band 7 level with a desire to develop leadership skills.
  • The role also requires experience in clinical supervision and reflective practice, along with an interest in supporting and developing SALT services.
