Newhouse Kilmarnock is looking to recruit a Bank Cook to join the team. Newhouse is located in the semi‑rural village of Hurlford, near Kilmarnock, Scotland. Our home offers residential support for 22 adults with a primary learning disability diagnosis, who may also have physical health needs, or be on the autism spectrum.
What you’ll be doing
- You’ll be part of a dedicated and compassionate team, all working together to ensure the smooth running of the service and to support the wellbeing of our residents.
- Your contribution is vital in helping to maintain a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for everyone.
- Creating, presenting and delivering nutritious meals to a high standard of quality.
- Developing varied and interesting menus that take into account healthy eating guidelines and any dietary and nutritional requirements.
- Supporting the provision of catering operations in line with the company’s policies and procedures.
- Working with colleagues in the Care team to tailor meals based on our residents’ preferences and adjusting these based on any changes.
- Involving residents with seasonal menu changes with the support of our Activity Coordinators.
What you’ll bring to the role

- The role holder will be numerate, literate and have been trained to NVQ3 standard with an Intermediate Food Safety Certificate.

- Well‑developed oral communication skills are required, as the jobholder is required to direct and instruct junior catering/waiting staff.
