Millburn Homes is looking to recruit a Senior Support Worker to join their team.
Full Time: 42 hr contract. Salary: £13.10 per hour. Millburn is located in Cambuslang, on the outskirts of Glasgow. Our home offers residential support for 20 people with a variety of needs, including autistic adults and people with a learning disability. We can also support individuals with mental health and physical health needs. Our staff are dedicated to supporting the people we care for to increase their participation, independence, socialisation, and communication, so they can lead happy and healthy lives.
It would be ideal if you have previous experience gained in a similar role. However, whilst this is valuable, we are looking for individuals who display the right values and behaviours in order to make a difference to people’s lives. You should be keen to learn and show compassion to care for the people we support.
What you’ll be doing:

- As a Senior Support Worker, you will assist qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of residents.
- You will provide support with day to day activities, whilst encouraging and promoting independent living.
- As part of our team, you’ll help people reach their potential, through both practical and emotional support, making a positive difference to their lives.
- You will have gained experience in a similar setting, supervising and leading others.
- While a formal qualification is not required, you should be willing to complete a Level 3 qualification in Team leadership and management with Priory.
- Supervise colleagues, lead team meetings and support your peers with their performance and professional development.
- Lead support planning and act as point of contact in the absence of site leadership.
- Assist with the management of site petty cash and client funds.
- Support with personal care tasks, such as washing, dressing, eating and personal care.
- Perform light housekeeping tasks, such as dusting, vacuuming, and changing bed clothes.
- Assist with safe lifting, transferring, repositioning and movement of individuals.
- Provide assistance and support to attend medical appointments.
- Observe, monitor, and record physical and emotional well-being, and quickly report any changes to senior staff.
- Support the development of important family connections and liaise with specialists, including Speech & Language Therapists and Learning Disability teams.
- Encourage participation in social and recreational activities that promote involvement and personal growth.
