Priory The Vines is looking to recruit a Senior Support Worker to join their team. This is a full time position 37.5 hours per week including alternate weekends.
The Vines is located in the beautiful town of Crowborough, East Sussex. It offers residential support for 12 males and females with an acquired brain injury (ABI), traumatic brain injury (TBI) and progressive neurological conditions (PNCs). This includes Parkinson’s disease, stroke and Korsakoff's syndrome. Our team are dedicated to promoting independence and helping every person we care for to return back into the community, where possible. We want to support our residents to achieve their life goals.
It would be ideal if you have previous experience gained in a similar role. However, we are looking for individuals who display the right values and behaviours in order to make a difference to people’s lives. You should be keen to learn and show compassion to care for the people we support.
What you'll be doing:
- You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our residents' wellbeing.
- You will assist qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of residents.
- You will provide support with day to day activities, whilst encouraging and promoting independent living.
- You’ll help people reach their potential, through both practical and emotional support, making a positive difference to their lives.
- You will supervise colleagues, lead team meetings and support your peers with their performance and professional development.
- Lead support planning and act as point of contact in the absence of site leadership.
- Assist with the management of site petty cash and client funds.
- Support with personal care tasks, such as washing, dressing, eating and personal care.
- Perform light housekeeping tasks, such as dusting, vacuuming, and changing bed clothes.
- Assist with safe lifting, transferring, repositioning and movement of individuals.
- Provide assistance and support to attend medical appointments.
- Observe, monitor, and record physical and emotional well-being, and quickly report any changes to senior staff.
- Support the development of important family connections and liaise with specialists, including Speech & Language Therapists and Learning Disability teams.
- Encourage participation in social and recreational activities that promote involvement and personal growth.
What you'll bring to the role:
- Your natural empathy will help you support others through both the highs and lows.
- Driving License required due to location or will consider people who have direct transport to the site.
- Previous experience in a senior role (6-12 months).
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a caring nature.
- Empathy, understanding and patience.
- Ability to work on your own and as part of a team.
- Ability to understand and follow policies and procedures.
- The ability to anticipate and respond to challenges.
- Competent in verbal and written English.
- A healthcare qualification is desirable, but not essential.
