Priory Hospital Bristol is seeking a highly skilled Consultant Psychiatrist/Medical Director to join our team in a dual role on our Female Acute Ward. This is a full‑time position (5 days per week), with flexibility to work one day remotely (Tuesday or Wednesday). A competitive stipend is offered in recognition of the Medical Director responsibilities.

Compensation: £176,000 / year

What you'll be doing:

  • Taking clinical responsibility for patients, including multidisciplinary ward rounds, risk reviews, strategic reviews and the development of a therapeutic milieu.
  • Fulfilling the role of Responsible Clinician to patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983).
  • Supervising the process of referral and admission including contributing to preadmission assessments of young people with other team members.
  • Offering a psychiatric perspective to the multidisciplinary team in relation to the assessment, formulation and treatment of adults.
  • Contributing to management meetings and clinical governance meetings for the services provided at the hospital, and contributing to the development of service strategy.

What you'll bring to the role:

  • Essential MRCPsych (or equivalent) CCT (or equivalent) and inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register
  • Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician status
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience at Consultant level
  • Demonstrable experience leading multidisciplinary teams
  • Desirable Experience on a Female Acute Ward
