What you’ll be doing

The post holder will undertake psychiatric and external assessments under the supervision of the Consultant Psychiatrist, working with the multidisciplinary team to deliver effective patient care. Responsibilities include preparing discharge summaries, reports, and CPA documentation, participating in Clinical Governance, CPD, research, and supervision activities, and contributing to the on‑call rota to ensure appropriate medical cover at all times. The role also involves supporting the GP and RMO in delivering high‑quality physical healthcare and emergency treatment, inducting new RMPs, and providing cover during rest periods. Additional duties include arranging and following up on clinical tests and investigations, sharing responsibility for blood taking, ensuring physical observations are completed in line with medical guidance, and reviewing and responding to clinical findings appropriately. You will join the team on the Acute Ward. In this role, you will play a key part in patient recovery, supporting the assessment and delivery of tailored treatment plans while ensuring dignity, respect, and high standards of care.

What you’ll bring to the role

This post requires an MB.BS or equivalent; you will also need to be GMC registered and licensed to practice. We would also expect you to be in good standing with the Royal College of Psychiatrists for CPD and have an appraisal or RITA in the last year. The consultant will hold a CCST / CCT (or equivalent) in the relevant areas of Psychiatry and will have experience of working in an inpatient setting with people with significant mental health difficulties.
