Priory Hospital Cheadle Royal is offering a full-time opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team on the EDU ward. Set within picturesque landscaped gardens in Stockport, we provide comprehensive inpatient mental health services for young people and adults, focusing on helping individuals live their best life in a safe and supportive environment.
The primary purpose of this role is to deliver outstanding clinical care to patients referred to the hospital, ensuring they receive compassionate, evidence-based treatment tailored to their individual needs. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to provide holistic, person-centred care that supports recovery, wellbeing, and positive long-term outcomes. Responsibilities include:
- Taking clinical responsibility for a defined patient caseload.
- Leading multidisciplinary ward rounds, risk assessments, and reviews.
- Strategic care planning and developing a safe, therapeutic, and recovery-focused environment.
- Fulfilling the role of Responsible Clinician for patients detained under the Mental Health Act 1983.
Essential qualifications include MRCPsych (or an equivalent qualification), a CCT (or equivalent), inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register, Section 12(2) approval, and Approved Clinician status. Candidates should demonstrate:
- Evidence of ongoing continuous professional development.
- Experience working within inpatient mental health services for individuals with complex and severe mental health needs.
- Proven ability to provide clinical leadership within multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication, decision-making, and risk management skills.
