Main duties of the job
As a Salaried GP at Priory Medical Centre, you will:
- Provide high-quality clinical care to patients through face-to-face, telephone, and online consultations.
- Manage a caseload of patients, ensuring safe, evidence-based, and patient-centred care.
- Undertake a share of the practices clinical and administrative workload, including repeat prescriptions, referrals, and results management.
- Work collaboratively with GP colleagues, nursing staff, allied health professionals, and the wider multi-disciplinary team.
- Contribute to the practices commitment to high performance in QOF, CQC standards, and local ICB objectives.
- Support the practices role as a teaching and training environment, engaging with GP trainees, medical students, and other learners where appropriate.
- Participate in regular clinical meetings and practice development initiatives.
- Provide continuity of care for patients with long-term conditions and support proactive, preventative healthcare approaches.
- Demonstrate professionalism, empathy, and commitment to improving patient outcomes within a supportive and forward-thinking practice.
About us
Priory Medical Centre is a well-established Warwick GP Partnership with a list size of approximately 18,900 patients and one branch surgery. We have 5 GP Partners and a full complement of additional staff including Salaried GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses, Health Care Assistants and administrative support. We are a recognised training practice for GP Registrars.
In June 2021, the practice moved into a brand new purpose-built surgery designed with patient care in mind. The new building will be a modern, energy efficient & fit for purpose building that will enable the practice to provide better services to our patients.
Job responsibilities
The post-holder will be responsible for providing a wide range of health services in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.
Specific Duties/Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities:
- In accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including face to face surgery consultations, e-consult and video consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork, reports and correspondence in a timely fashion.
- Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
- Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems and referring to other care providers as appropriate.
- Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
- In consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health.
- Providing counselling and health education.
- Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
- Collecting data for audit purposes and complying with QOF requirements.
- Delivering enhanced services.
- Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions.
- Prescribing in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate.
In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
Experience
- Experience of providing primary care in and out of hours.
- Experience of audit and improving care for patients.
- Experience of working in primary care past Registrar level.
- Development of areas of clinical expertise.
Qualifications
- MBBS or equivalent medical degree.
- Full registration with GMC.
- Certification of Completion of Training (JCPTGP/PMETB).
- Inclusion on Performers List.
- Evidence of a commitment to ongoing personal & professional development.
- MRCGP.
