Registered Mental Health Nurse Male PICU

Main duties of the job

• The role involves delivering and coordinating patient‑centred nursing care within an agreed framework, including assessing, planning, and reviewing care in partnership with patients and their families.
• The post holder will monitor patient progress, respond to changes in condition, and manage feedback or concerns effectively.
• Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, they will prioritise and delegate duties, take charge of shifts when required, and contribute to maintaining a safe environment, while continuing their professional development in line with revalidation requirements.
• You will join the team on the Male PICU Ward, playing a key part in patient recovery, supporting the assessment and delivery of tailored treatment plans while ensuring dignity, respect, and high standards of care.

Job responsibilities

Part-time of 23 hours a week. Minimum 6 months post‑registration experience within Mental Health or Learning Disabilities Care Environment, evidence of continued professional development in the relevant field. This role is not suitable for newly qualified nurses or preceptorship nurses.

Requirements

• Hold current professional registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), along with Mental Health.
• A background in mental health, particularly within a PICU ward setting, would be highly desirable for this role. Candidates with this experience will bring valuable insight into managing complex and dynamic clinical environments, along with the ability to respond effectively to patients with higher acuity needs.
• This experience supports strong clinical decision‑making, resilience, and a proactive approach to delivering safe, high‑quality care in fast‑paced settings.
