Priory Hospital Stockton Hall is looking to recruit a Physical Healthcare Nurse to join the team. This is a full time role of 37.5 hours per week. Roman Ward is a recently opened 12 bed Medium Secure ward within the well-established and highly regarded Stockton Hall Hospital. The service is for men who have a principal diagnosis of mental illness, including severe and enduring mental illness, and have acute or chronic complex physical health needs.
We are looking for two experienced RGNs to join our team. The successful candidates will bring their knowledge to the nursing team and wider MDT in understanding and meeting the patients' physical health needs. This is a unique opportunity for an RGN to gain experience working with patients with complex mental health problems in a medium secure environment. The post-holder will be expected to work shifts and take nurse in charge responsibilities.
Main duties of the jobYou will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients' wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. You will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients.
- To provide support to the Nursing and wider MDTs in ensuring the patients in the defined area have their physical healthcare nursing needs identified, care planned and evaluated in accordance with best practice and clinical evidence.
- Provide advice and support to colleagues at the site regarding physical healthcare needs in general terms; this includes Infection control, screening programmes and site specific requirements, depending on the clinical speciality.

Person SpecificationQualifications:
- Qualified Registered General Nurse (RGN), with 2 years post registration experience with active NMC Registration and completed preceptorship programme.
- Consideration will be given to Nurses registered in MH or LD services if they demonstrate competence in the requirements for the role.
- Qualified Mentor or to achieve within 12 months of coming into post.
- Knowledge of NMC guidelines and professional practices.
- Evidence of post registration continuing professional development.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
