Located in Meriden, Warwickshire, Priory Hospital Solihull is a 31-bedded hospital supporting the NHS by offering level 2 rehabilitation services for males.
Main duties of the job:
- You will be part of a dedicated and compassionate team, all working together to ensure the smooth running of the hospital and to support the wellbeing of our patients.
- Your role doesn’t involve providing direct care, but your contribution is vital in helping to maintain a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for everyone.
- Assisting with day-to-day operations, keeping things organised, or ensuring our spaces are well looked after plays an important part in creating a positive experience for those who live and work here.
- Manage the efficient administration of the Mental Health Act (MHA) within the area of responsibility and prioritise workload to meet constantly changing demands.
- Ensure compliance with the MHA 1983, amendments to the act and the revised MHA Code of Practice.
- Support and advise staff, service users and relatives on the MHA 1983 and associated procedures.
- Responsible for ensuring the effective creation and maintenance of legal files for service users subject to the Act, safeguarding confidential information and statutory documentation.
- Maintain accurate data in relation to the use of the Act in order to provide statistical information for national and local reporting processes.

Job responsibilities:
This is a part-time role of 22.5 hours a week with flexible working hours based on site.
Person Specification Requirements:
- The successful candidate will bring excellent administrative skills, with experience working within an administrative team in a healthcare or legal environment being advantageous.
- A working knowledge of mental health services and legislation is important, alongside the ability to understand, interpret, and apply relevant legislation and current case law.
- They will be educated to a good standard, including GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English, and be competent in the use of Microsoft Office.
- The role requires someone who can confidently support and advise staff on Mental Health Act administration requirements, while remaining calm under pressure, effectively prioritising tasks, and adapting to constantly changing demands to help make a real and lasting difference for everyone we support.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
