Main duties of the job include delivering high-quality nursing care within an agreed framework by assessing, planning, implementing, and reviewing care in partnership with patients and their families while acting as the named nurse. Responsibilities also include monitoring patient progress, responding to changes in condition, and contributing to a multidisciplinary approach to care. It is essential to prioritise and delegate duties effectively, including acting as nurse in charge when required, to maintain a safe environment.

Building positive relationships with patients, relatives, colleagues, and visitors is crucial, as is responding professionally to enquiries, suggestions, and complaints. Supporting newly qualified staff as a preceptor, participating in clinical supervision and reflective practice, and maintaining ongoing professional development in line with preceptorship and revalidation requirements are also key aspects of the role.

Compliance with safeguarding policies, the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, Medicines Management policies, Priory Group policies, and the NMC Code must be ensured at all times. You will join the team on the Eating Disorder Unit, playing a key part in patient recovery by supporting the assessment and delivery of tailored treatment plans while ensuring dignity, respect, and high standards of care.

Job responsibilities:

  • Full-time position of 37.5 hours a week
  • Qualified Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with 6-12 months post-registration experience
  • This role is not suitable for newly qualified nurses or preceptorship nurses
  • Experience in Eating Disorder is essential for this role

Person Specification Requirements:

  • Qualified Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with active NMC Registration and completed preceptorship programme
  • Disclosure and Barring Service Check: This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975, necessitating a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
