Located in Blackburn, Lancashire, Priory Hospital Kemple View is a 90-bed hospital, offering level 2 rehabilitation and secure services for adult males. We can support people with a mental health condition and/or a personality disorder.

Main duties of the job:

You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients' wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. As a specialist practitioner, you will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients.

You will also:

  • Optimize patient care by working collaboratively with nursing staff. This includes evaluating current practices, reviewing alternatives, consulting with Primary Nurses, and continuously educating and supporting staff to work effectively with each patient as an individual.
  • Undertake specific, evidence-based assessments, including risk assessments, collaboratively with patients, and communicate the results effectively to ensure they inform all aspects of decision-making.
  • Contribute to the development of individualised case formulations and associated treatment and intervention plans.
  • Develop and deliver individualised treatment plans to address aspects of sexual behaviour for clients who present with complex mental health needs and presentation.

Job responsibilities:

Priory Kemple View is seeking to recruit a Specialist Practitioner in Sexual Offending Behaviour to join the team. This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week.

Person Specification:

The role requires a Registered Practitioner (e.g., Mental Health or Learning Disability Nurse, Psychologist, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, or Probation Officer) with a relevant postgraduate qualification. Essential experience includes delivering evidence-based systemic interventions and specialist psychological work with individuals exhibiting sexually problematic behaviours. Candidates should be skilled in therapies like CBT, DBT, mindfulness, positive psychology, goal setting, and trauma-informed approaches.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
