As a Mental Health Nurse/Learning Disability Nurse, you will work as an effective member of the Multi-Disciplinary team and promote the best interests of the clients and carers and ensure that prescribed nursing care is effectively implemented. Deliver prescribed care to a defined group within an agreed framework. Assess, plan and deliver, with the patient and their carer/family, nursing care which takes account of patient choice and wishes and acting as the patients named nurse. Accurately observe and engage with patients in order to assess their need and evaluate their progress. Monitor and review Nursing Care plans.

About us: Based in Harleston, Norfolk, Richmond House is a level 2 rehabilitation service for those with a learning disability. We can support adult females with a range of needs, including those who are on the autism spectrum, those with personality disorders, complex mental health needs, and those with a history of offending behaviours. We support people to improve their skills and strengthen their independence, enabling safe continuation of care and transition into community placements. Requirements:

  • A qualified Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with 18 months of post-registration experience is required, along with active NMC registration and completion of a preceptorship programme.
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of NMC guidelines, requirements, and professional standards, and be able to demonstrate ongoing post-registration continuing professional development.
  • They will show a positive attitude and a commitment to change, service improvement, and high-quality care.
  • The ability to adopt flexible and innovative approaches to practice is essential, as are excellent verbal and written communication skills.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
