Pay Rate:£12.60 per hour.

Shift Pattern:You will only be working weekends. Working hours are 8am - 8pm on Saturdays & Sundays, 24 hours per week.

Job Description

Your positive attitude and passion for providing high quality care and support will be your key strengths, but you\'ll also have a friendly, patient and positive approach to work. You should be keen to learn and show compassion to care for the people we support.

You will provide support with day to day activities, whilst encouraging and promoting independent living. As part of our team, you’ll help people reach their potential, through both practical and emotional support, making a positive difference to their lives.

Our teams provide care and support for individuals with different conditions at Priory sites all across the UK.

It would be ideal if you have previous experience gained in a similar role. However whilst this is valuable, we are looking for individuals who display the right values and behaviours in order to make a difference to people’s lives. You should be keen to learn and show compassion to care for the people we support. Not only is full training provided, but there are numerous career pathways available to you, including our Nurse Apprenticeship program.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting with personal care tasks, such as washing, dressing, eating and personal care
  • Perform light housekeeping tasks, such as dusting, vacuuming, and changing bed clothes
  • Assist with safe lifting, transferring, repositioning and movement of individuals
  • Assistance and support to attend medical appointments
  • Observe, monitor, and record physical and emotional well-being, and quickly report any changes to senior staff
  • Encouragement to participate in social and recreational activities

Qualifications and Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a caring nature
  • Empathy, understanding and patience
  • Ability to work on your own and as part of a team
  • Ability to understand and follow policies and procedure
  • The ability to anticipate and respond to challenges
  • Competent in verbal and written English
  • A healthcare qualification is desirable, but not essential

Additional Information

Location: Wakefield

Woodhouse Hall is located in East Ardsley, in West Yorkshire. It offers residential support for 19 people with a range of needs. These include people with a learning disability, mental health needs, people on the autism spectrum, and those with a personality disorder. We are in a semi-rural location, off the main road from East Ardsley to Tingley. We encourage independence through our philosophy of care and support people’s wishes to privacy and dignity with total respect for personal beliefs and views. We take care and effort to get to know and understand the people that we support, so that we fully recognise how we can best respond to their needs.

Disclosure

All roles will be subject to a successful disclosure at an appropriate level from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), Access NI or Disclosure Scotland, and the cost of this will be covered by Priory.
