The Lawrence is looking to recruit a Support Worker to join their team.

Role type: Full-time

Hours: 40 hours per week, 7am - 7pm. Weekend work is included.

Pay Rate: £12.60 per hour

The Lawrence is located in Carr Gate, in Wakefield. Our offers residential support for 14 people with a learning disability and other needs. Our team is dedicated to providing a safe and homely environment, where all individuals can make their own choices about the support they receive. We want people we care for to maximise their potential, no matter what their physical, intellectual, emotional and social capacity needs are.

It would be ideal if you have previous experience gained in a similar role. However, we are looking for individuals who display the right values and behaviours in order to make a difference to people’s lives. You should be keen to learn and show compassion to care for the people we support.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Your positive attitude and passion for providing high quality care and support will be your key strengths, but you’ll also have a friendly, patient and positive approach to work.
  • As a Support Worker, you will assist qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of residents.
  • You will provide support with day to day activities, whilst encouraging and promoting independent living.
  • As part of our team, you’ll help people reach their potential, through both practical and emotional support, making a positive difference to their lives.
  • Supporting with personal care tasks, such as washing, dressing, eating and personal care.
  • Performing light housekeeping tasks, such as dusting, vacuuming, and changing bed clothes.
  • Assisting with safe lifting, transferring, repositioning and movement of individuals.
  • Assistance and support to attend medical appointments.
  • Observe, monitor, and record physical and emotional well-being, and quickly report any changes to senior staff.
  • Supporting the development of important family connections and liaising with specialists, including Speech & Language Therapists and Learning Disability teams.
  • Encouraging participation in social and recreational activities that promote involvement and personal growth.
