Are you a Registered General Nurse? Are you looking for an exciting opportunity and change of environment? We may just have the job for you. The Priory Hospital Middleton St George are recruiting an RGN to join our experienced mental health and learning disability nurses to become part of our ward based teams. We think that a blended approach to the skill‑mix of the registered nurse contingent along with mental health and learning disability nurses will make a great conducive environment for nurses to work, learn and grow.
We have eight wards on site within the hospital and an additional community house situation in Darlington Town Centre. We have two PICU wards (male and female), two acute wards (mixed sex and female), a specialised personality disorder service, a Medium Secure ward and two rehabilitation and recovery services, one with AIMS accreditation. Our wards offer a vast learning experience and the opportunity to work with Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Consultant Psychiatrists, Psychologists and Occupational Therapists who form the multi-disciplinary teams on all wards.
What you’ll be doing
You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. You will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients.
- Deliver prescribed care to a defined group within an agreed framework.
- Assess, plan and deliver with the patient and their carer/family, nursing care which takes account of patient choice and wishes and acting as the patient’s named nurse.
- Accurately observe and engage with patients in order to assess need and evaluate progress.
- Monitor and review Nursing Care plans.
You can find additional information in the attached job description.
What you’ll bring to the role
Our work is rewarding but can be challenging, so resilience is key. No two days are the same! Your natural empathy will help you support others through both the highs and lows. As a RGN nurse on site you would have a great pathway to learning and developing mental health expertise. All applicants must have sound knowledge and skill base around physical health, health initiatives, understanding of infection and prevention control and helpful knowledge around smoking cessation. Candidates must also have an interest in mental health and be willing to work towards additional competencies within the mental health environment.
This is a full time (37.5 hrs), permanent role with a salary of up to £31,200 per annum (dependent upon experience and qualifications) plus enhancements. Enhancements are paid for working night shifts, Saturday and Sunday shifts as well as Bank Holidays. Your earning potential can be significantly more as well as having the opportunity to work overtime.
