Priory Hospital Preston is looking to recruit a consultant psychiatrist to join the team. This is a part time role of 22.5 hours based on site. Based in Bartle, near Preston, Priory Hospital Preston is a 50-bedded mental health hospital, offering an extensive range of services, delivered across four wards. We can support adult males and females with acute mental health needs and eating disorders, and specialise in the management and treatment of these conditions.
What you'll be doing
- You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients' wellbeing.
- You will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients.
- Taking clinical responsibility for patients, including multidisciplinary ward rounds, risk reviews, strategic reviews and the development of a therapeutic milieu.
- Fulfilling the role of Responsible Clinician to patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983).
- Supervising the process of referral and admission including contributing to preadmission assessments of young people with other team members.
- Offering a psychiatric perspective to the multidisciplinary team in relation to the assessment, formulation and treatment of adults.

- The consultant must hold and maintain registration with the General Medical Council (GMC), including the relevant Specialist Register, and be able to provide evidence of this registration to the Hospital Director or Group Medical Officer upon request.
- The successful candidate will hold a CCST/CCT (or equivalent) in the relevant areas of Psychiatry and have experience working in inpatient settings with individuals experiencing significant mental health difficulties.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as the role relies on building trust and confidence with patients to ensure that treatments and interventions are effective and successful.
