Priory Hospital Newbury is looking to recruit a Bank Healthcare Assistant to join the team. Priory Hospital Newbury, located in Berkshire, is a level 2 rehabilitation service which supports male adults with mental health needs, who are working towards a life back in the community.
What you'll be doing
You’ll be part of a dedicated and compassionate team, all working together to ensure the smooth running of the service. Whether you're assisting with day-to-day operations, supporting with care requirements, keeping things organised, or ensuring our spaces are well looked after, your support plays an important part in creating a positive experience for those who live and work here.
- Assists qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate the wellbeing, dignity and treatment of all patients.
- Provides practical support and responsive care to patients who require assistance with intimate personal needs such as addressing, bathing and toileting activities ensuring that such activities comply with procedures and the relevant healthcare legislation.
- Observes and monitors the wellbeing of patients ensuring that any unusual physical, mental or emotional occurrences are promptly referred to senior staff/the primary nurse and documented as appropriate.
- Provide specific interventions with patients as delegated by a Registered Nurse, and following training and competency attainment. Such interventions include Observation and Engagement with Patients, escorting patients on leave, and being involved in de-escalation and management of violence and aggression.
What you'll bring to the role
Our work is rewarding but can be challenging, so resilience is key. No two days are the same! Your natural empathy will help you support others through both the highs and lows. The ideal candidate will be educated to at least NVQ Level 1 or hold GCSEs in Mathematics and English. They will understand the importance of maintaining strict confidentiality and possess basic IT literacy. No specific prior experience is required for the role; however, the candidate will be expected to complete the Care Certificate as part of their probation period, regardless of whether they have previously achieved it.
