Priory Hospital Enfield is looking to recruit a Senior Staff Nurse to join the team. This is a full time 37.5 hours role. Located in Edmonton, North London, Priory Hospital Enfield offers acute and secure services for adult females. We have two medium secure wards, one low secure and one acute ward. We offer specialist mental health care to people who are unwell and are considered to be unable to look after themselves in the community. We provide specialist assessment, treatment and care to patients with severe mental illness, complex needs and people who require an environment with security and safety. Priory’s acute and PICU services aim to allow more people to be treated closer to home and we support the NHS to repatriate out-of-area patients back to local areas.

What you'll be doing

  • You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our patients’ wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future. You will play a key part in their recovery, assisting qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of patients.
  • Deliver prescribed care to a defined group of patients/Service users that reflect their individual needs.
  • Assess, plan and deliver, with the patient and their carer/family, nursing care which takes account of patient choice and wishes and acts as the patient’s named nurse. This includes the evaluation and review of these plans, with the patient/Service User, on a frequent basis, that is reflective of their needs.
  • Contribute to a team approach to patient care in conjunction with all members of the Multi‑Disciplinary team.
  • Build relationships and effectively communicate and engage with external professionals and stakeholders.

What you'll bring to the role

The ideal candidate is a qualified Registered Adult Nurse with 6–12 months’ post‑registration experience, holding an active NMC registration and having completed a preceptorship or equivalent programme. They will demonstrate sound knowledge of NMC standards, guidelines, requirements and professional practice, alongside evidence of ongoing post‑registration continuing professional development. With a positive attitude and strong commitment to change, improvement and quality, they will be able to adopt flexible and innovative approaches to practice. Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills are essential, as is IT literacy. Candidates must also have a minimum of 6–12 months’ post‑registration experience within Mental Health or Learning Disability Nursing, supported by evidence of continued professional development within the relevant field.
